Today i want to talk about a great spring time camping location, big bend. From geographic marvels to a variety of fauna and flora, big bend has got a little something for every outdoor adventurer. Take your new forest river vibe or keystone passport out to West Texas for a little (or a lot!) nature!, you must be very careful though, and make sure you grab a husky centerline TS weight distribution hitch to go with your new travel trailer, because those mountain roads are treacherous!
Big bend is an excellent place to go if you’re an avid birdwatcher, as there are more than 450 different species of bird known to occur there. Some birds, such as the mexican mallard, lucifer hummingbird, mexican jay, black capped and gray vireos, colima warbler, and varied bunting are unique to the big bend area. Park your new Coachmen Prism at the campsite and take a nice walk around the area and you will immediately see how big bend is one of america’s biggest natural aviaries.
Is hiking more up your alley? big bend is chock full of hiking and walking trails, from old livestock trails to purpose-built hiking trails, there is never a shortage of outdoor destinations. With an elevation difference of 7,200 feet, the landscape is constantly changing around you as you make your way either up or down the chisos mountain trails. Just make sure that your fridge back at the camper is fully stocked for the recharge meal when you get back!
